Link InternshipsA link internship is a three-week long internship (30-40 hours a week) that promotes community involvement and connects classroom learning to the outside world, students do not attend classes in order to focus all their attention on the internship
Finding a company to find that is to my interests and is willing to experiment with a intern was the hardest part of the process. But I was lucky to find guy from bad apples after three other declined internships. Bad Apples Repairs your broken cell phones and tablets. You don't need to replace your broken device, we repair them. Broken Screen or Water Damage? It can be fixed. Hosted by Guy.W, a cell phone and tablet repair specialist since 2013. He uses the best quality parts and he stands by his service. https://www.facebook.com/durangobadapples/ I chose to work with Guy because of of the learning opportunities that were presented to me such as repairing and selling old technology and recycling devices that are beyond repair. |
I've had plenty of good events that have happened during my internship, such as constructing a computer from scrap, and installing a security system at KP pawn. I built my own computer in the past, so that experience gave me confidence that I could do the work needed at Bad Apples. Installing the security system was a new experience that helped increase my technical skills, and also enabled me to see how Guy worked with customers.
But I've also had bad experiences with being on time, and making brash decisions where we started to pull apart a computer that was close to functional. I leaned that I need to take responsibility for being on time because people are counting on me. I need to be careful and think through my actions before executing them. It turned out that the computer only had a few loose wires and didn't need to be scrapped. A little more careful investigation will help me make a better decision. I impacted Guy's business in a positive way, getting one of his projects off the ground by recycling old computers. Extracting materials and hardware was pretty fun. |
